Focus on Iceland

Iceland is a European island about the size of Kentucky, located midway between North America and continental Europe. It's sparsely populated and most Icelanders live in coastal regions. However, the uninhabited highland interior is one of Europe's most spectacular wilderness areas. The name Iceland is deceiving because the Gulf Stream results in a surprisingly mild climate. With exciting activities all seasons, Iceland is a unique vacation destination.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Wednesday
Depart this evening from North America.  Flying time about 5 hours.

Day 2 Thursday
Explore caverns that sheltered Irish monks in pre-Viking days. Relax in a geothermal pool at the foot of a glacial mountain before walking along basalt sand beaches.

Day 3 Friday
Spend an unforgettable day with Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajokull. Visit Skaftafell Glacier Park, the Black Falls and other national treasures. In the afternoon visit magical Breidamerkurlon, where glaciers serenely sail on a lagoon.

Day 4 Saturday
Visit picturesque Skogafoss Falls and an excellent Folk Museum. Head for the highlands to Thorsmork, a glacial valley named after the Norse thunder god. Head back in time at the Saga Museum with colorful exhibits about the Viking epic, Njall's Saga. Afterwards enjoy a Viking-style dinner and stay in a guesthouse at the foot of Mt. Hekla. The geothermal hot tub is perfect for relaxation.

Day 5 Sunday
